The Pre-Prep department at Lyndhurst School consists of Year 1 and 2. We pride ourselves on our smaller inclusive class sizes. Each day in the life of a five, six- and seven-year-olds promises the discovery of new skills, expansion of knowledge and a variety of new experiences. All learning takes place in a supportive and nurturing environment which enables children to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.
In Year 1 and 2 you will find children participating in ‘hands-on’, practical activities which will lead to meaningful and exciting cross-curricular links. This enables children to become creative and independent thinkers. During these three years children develop the ability to take ownership of their own learning.
In Pre-Prep, the children are generally taught by their class teacher, although specialist Art, Music, French and PE teachers are employed at Lyndhurst School to ensure the highest quality of teaching is taking place across the curriculum. With this in mind, our daily phonics lessons are based on ability to ensure that the children reach their fullest potential.
By the end of their Pre-Prep journey, we aim to give all pupils the knowledge and skills to be successful, independent and motivated learners in readiness for the next stage in their education.
